Dont Worry, Run Happy

I love the song "Dont worry be happy" by Bob marley. Night before my runs, I always make sure to put that song in my ipod playlist. I felt relaxed when I listen to his song while running.  I also felt that Im temporary away from my problems and anxieties.

Many friends had asked me, What makes running a exciting and addicting sports for me.

As all  we know, running is painful, tedious, and exhausting exercise. plus, you need to skip friday night gimmiks to have enough sleep for weekend race events. I think the hardest part is, you have to wake up early in the morning just to run.

So, why do so many people addicted it?

People run for obvious reasons like to increase performance, to release stress,to stay in shape,
and to reach an ideal body weight. But for others, there is a certain feeling that they are addicted to.

Most of runner says that euphoria or so-called "runner's high that comes after a run is what motivates them most, They have experienced a happy feeling during and after the race called endorphin rush .

Endorphins are natural hormones that your brain releases when it senses happiness. These endorphins give you a sense of happiness, satisfaction and well-being. It is released during long, continuous workouts, when the level of intensity is between moderate and high, and breathing is difficult. This also corresponds with the time that muscles use up their stored glycogen.

During a release of endorphins the person may be exposed to bodily harm from strenuous bodily functions after going past his or her body's physical limit. This means that runners can keep running despite pain, continuously surpassing what they once considered to be their limit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endorphin#Runner.27s_high

On May 22, 2011 Let us release your Happy Hormone called Endorphins and join Brooks Run Happy!

Akyat Pinatubo Climb For A Cause

It was June 15, 1991 When Mt. Pinatubo eruption happens. I was only 9 years old then
and I remember the times when everyone in our neighborhood were busy removing ash falls
in their roof.  I was very happy that time because of one week class suspension. But, when I watched the news and saw what happened in barangays in Tarlac and Pampanga, I felt bad and
realized that it was a serious matter.

It was the second largest eruption of the 20th century. Mount Pinatubo Volcano had been dormant for 400 years.

The effect of erruption was very devastating and it destroyed Irrigation systems, water
service facilities, power transmission and lateral lines, roads bridges and other
infrastructures were damaged mainly by lahars while houses and public buildings
collapsed from the weight of accumulated ash deposits.
Those were the memories of  Mt.Pinatubo 10 years ago. I cant imagine how can they can recover from such disaster. But, Nothing is impossible with God.  The nature recovers itself and bring back its beauty.

After a decade, Mt. Pinatubo became one of the tourist spot in the Philippines. I dont want to miss the opportunity to witness the beauty of Mt. Pinatubo.

I already climbed 2 mountains this year (Pico de loro and Mt.Maculot) and Mt.Pinatubo would be my Third.

On May 28, 2011, There will be an event named Akyat Pinatubo" Blogger's climb for a Cause. Organized by Let’s Go Sago! Travel Club. The proceeds of the event will be go to Tahanang Walang Hagdanan.

Goldilocks Fun Run

For the most Filipinos, the Goldilocks fairytale has two versions: a golden-haired lass who encounters the three bears, and the bakeshop that has become an integral part of the Filipino way of life.

Now on its 45th year, Goldilocks remains that company and more. At the forefront of its industry, the company enjoys a substantial lead over competitors in all aspects of performance. National consumer surveys have consistently identified Goldilocks as the landslide winner in customer satisfaction indices such as Awareness Conversion (the ability to translate brand awareness to actual trial) and Share of Heart (the emotional approach to measuring preference).

Most Filipinos consider Goldilocks not only a brand, but also a Filipino Institution. In fact its popular tagline, “How thoughtful, how Goldilocks” has evolved over the years into “How thoughtful, how Pinoy (colloquial for ‘Filipino’)”, and later to “Ang sarap magmahal ng Pinoy!”, embracing a culture and tradition that goes beyond the name.

Through the years, Goldilocks has made significant contributions to the upliftment of the lives of Filipinos. With the company’s commitment to its continuing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, the Goldilocks Fun Run will also be a fund-raising activity for the benefit of the Goldilocks Foundation and its F.E.E.D. (Feeding Program,Education, Environment, and Disaster Assistance) initiatives.

The Goldilocks Fun Run is sure to be a memorable event not only for running enthusiasts
but for the whole family. We hope to see you there, and here’s to a Goldi-Good run!

PCPF RUN WITH DOCTORS

When I was young,  I ran away from doctors when I saw them because I am afraid of injection.
But on May 1, 2011 ( Labor day ) at SM Mall of Asia, I will run with Doctors.

Being with the doctors outside the clinic and the hospital where they are just like everyone else is an occasion for fellowship and glee. Health assumes an equitable face: health as actually practiced in contrast to health as advised. The doctors may use the chance to compare with each other their levels of fitness; the public may want to see how they fare versus their doctors, or simply spend the time with them on a Sunday morning.

The number of doctors who have taken up running not only as a form of exercise but as a lifestyle has increased tremendously over the last several months. They have joined a bandwagon of Filipinos who now apply science in the activity. The health benefits of running come with the right pair of shoes, the fit of the clothes, the proper way for the feet to hit the ground, the appropriate pacing, and the adequacy of hydration. When doctors learn the science, expect them to do it quickly and with confidence.

Running gives a high that is good and healthy for both the doctors and their patients. On May 1, 2011, approximately 1,000 of the 5,000 doctors from all over the country who will be in Manila for the annual convention of the Philippine College of Physicians will spearhead the RUN WITH DOCTORS as a fund-raising activity. The doctors are inviting their patients and the public to join them at the SM Mall of Asia Complex. They may participate in the 3K, 5K and 10K categories.

Registration will be from March 24 - April 25, 2011. For inquiries, please call 703 – 1736 or 910-2252 – 54 or visit http://www.runrio.com./
